AIFA Reading Society and its team of Deborah Idakwo, Justina Fakulude, Jessica Iyoke, Obinna Iroaganachi and Ahijah Yunana celebrated Children’s Day with children at New Kuchingoro IDP Camp, FCT, Abuja on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

The Society had series of exciting activities to make the Day memorable and fun for the children ranging from games to reading sessions and donation of educational materials to aid learning. The Head Teacher and other School Officers welcomed representatives of the Society.

To celebrate Children’s Day 2023, the Society hosted Mrs. Raquel Daniels, an author and social entrepreneur who read her recently published book, “The boy who didn’t wash his hands,” to the children. During the reading session, Raquel engaged the pupils to read to the rest of the class as well test their knowledge through questions from the book.

After the book reading session with Raquel, AIFA team engaged the pupils with the game session and prizes were won. Thereafter, the pupils received snack packs from the team which added more colour to the celebration.

At the end of the event, the Society donated educational materials to the school: Story books, stationaries and learning charts. The Head Teacher of the school in the IDP Camp, Mr. Lukas, received the educational materials with joy. He appreciated AIFA’s visit and thanked the Society for always having the Camp in mind for donations such as this. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the Society for always putting smiles on the faces of the children and relieving parents of the stress of getting textbooks and writing materials for their children.

The Society is thankful to everyone that made this year’s Children’s Day a success through their donations, and we hope you all continue to partner with us in our mission to promote literacy and the culture of reading through quality schemes that encourage learning.
