AIFA Reading Society Hosts Third Teachers’ Conference to Celebrate Educators and Drive Educational Reform

AIFA Reading Society successfully held the third edition of its Teachers’ Conference in Lagos, reaffirming the critical role educators play in promoting literacy and shaping the future of society. This year’s conference was organised in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day and took place on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Obele Community Senior High School, Surulere, focusing on teachers within Education District IV, Lagos.

With the theme “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” the symposium welcomed 60 educators from the district. It provided an engaging platform for professional development, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue on the future of education.

Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Rhodah Odigboh, Director of AIFA Reading Society, underscored the importance of amplifying teacher voices to address systemic challenges in education. She emphasized the need for continuous professional growth and the invaluable contributions of educators to nation-building.

Breakout sessions were a key highlight of the event, allowing teachers to identify pressing issues in Nigeria’s education system and propose actionable solutions through group discussions and presentations. The conference concluded with heartfelt appreciation from the teachers, who commended AIFA Reading Society for creating a platform that not only celebrated their contributions but also inspired transformative conversations about the future of education in Nigeria.
