Folashade Alli is a practicing Solicitor and Chartered Arbitrator based in Lagos, Nigeria.  She is the Principal Partner of the Lagos based law firm called Folashade Alli and Associates (formerly known as VATad Solicitors).

She obtained a degree in Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from University of Lagos in 1984 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985.  She holds a Master’s Degree (LLM) in Corporate and Commercial law from University College, London in 1987. She was called to the English bar in 1990 and is eligible to practice as a Barrister in England. She is member of the distinguished Lincolns Inn, London.

Mrs. Folashade Alli is currently the Chairperson of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association as well as a member of the Professional Conduct Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) UK.

She is the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) UK (Nigeria Branch) and an Approved Tutor of the Institute. She  is a representative of Nigeria on the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR in Paris, whose goal is to propose new policies and tools to innovate and promote efficient and cost-effective settlement of disputes.

Folashade Alli has extensive arbitration experience and has been appointed as an arbitrator in numerous disputes spanning diverse fields of law including but not limited to maritime disputes, contractual and corporate commercial disputes, car dealership disputes, oil and gas disputes, banking law disputes amongst others. She has acted in the capacity of sole arbitrator, member of a panel of Arbitrators and Chairman of the Arbitration Tribunal. Her awards are reputed to be clear, articulate, well-reasoned and rooted in an in-depth understanding of the arbitral process and the law.

Her work in arbitration also involves driving policy and promoting arbitration. She is also a member of the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge in Nigeria which seeks to increase the participation of women in arbitration. She is also a member of the Committee on the Review of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act of Nigeria.

Mrs. Folashade Alli is a registered Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She is also qualified to act as a Capital Markets Operator by the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria. She is also an approved Mediator with the Lagos State Multidoor Court House

She worked with various Law firms including Robert Sykes Q.C, London, John Roberts Q.C, London, Aluko & Oyebode, was former group legal adviser to the Bollore group namely: SDV, Transcap and Alraine Shipping agencies before setting up her own law firm, VATad Solicitors (now Folashade Alli and Associates), in 2003.
