The ‘Young Writers Awards’ is an annual award ceremony that honours participants with outstanding performances in the AIFA Reading Society’s yearly Essay Competition.
The Essay Competition which targets the students and teachers at secondary schools is centered around the analytical discussion of issues affecting education in Nigeria.
The Society’s ‘Book Recycle Scheme’ was established to address the inadequacy of educational materials in government-owned educational institutions.
Through a quarterly book drive, the Society encourages publishing houses, corporate organisations, and individuals to support the project by contributing educational textbooks and other instructional materials as donations to government schools.
The ‘Calculate2Succeed’ initiative is a project of the Society that seeks to give students in government-owned schools the tools necessary to not only enhance their performance in mathematics and science subjects, but to instill a lifelong desire for learning.
A vibrant book club is one of the best ways to create a love for books. The AIFA Book Club provides its junior and senior members who relish the opportunity to express their opinions and feelings about every literary piece that cuts across all interests.
This informal setting makes reading a fun activity and creates an interactive community of readers.
AIFA Reading Society extends its love to Orphanages and Schools for Special Persons by donating unique educational and instructional materials to their libraries as a way of advancing inclusive learning.
The Volunteer Teaching Scheme is an initiative that aims to provide additional learning support to students and pupils in government-owned schools.
The Society identified the need for this initiative during one of its visits to a school where many children were discovered to have difficulty in reading and writing. Thus, the Society’s goal to provide extra learning support to students in government-owned primary and secondary schools.
The ‘Evening of Lit and Jazz’ is an event under the AIFA Book Club initiative which aims to explore literature and its importance to the socio-economic development of Nigeria; bringing together literature and jazz lovers, experts in the education and development sector, writers, poets, and other professionals to explore literary readings, discussions and jazz music.
